Amino acid (calm)
GABA
GABA is the brain's main inhibitory neurotransmitter. Oral GABA's effects are debated, since it's thought not to cross the blood-brain barrier well, but many parents and kids report subjective calm. Worth trying short-term.
Typical pediatric dose
Kids 6+: 100-250 mg as needed. With practitioner guidance.
Safety notes
Generally safe. Avoid combining with sedatives.
